Situated at 182-184 Whalley New Road, Blackburn Darussalam Education Centre is not a ‘Traditional School’ like many in this town but in a broader sense, it is a ‘Progressive Islamic and Cultural Guidance Centre’, which is aimed to cater something for everyone in the society with the emphasis on the youth and the children. Its premises are registered as a Place of Worship and Education, under the Registrar General’s Place of Worship Registration No 82222 since 15th April 2009 in the District of Blackburn with Darwen. With the approval of the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council this Centre will soon start following activities in its premises:
Five Time Congregational Prayers.
Friday Khutba (Sermon) for brothers and sisters.
Taraweeh (Night Prayer) during the month of Ramadan for brothers & sisters.
Eid Prayers etc.
The afternoon children classes are already being taken from 5.00 to 7.00 pm on weekdays.
Its management believes that it wants to focus on the spiritual development of youth and children of this society, and for their safety, security and protection. In general, we want to enlighten our society with:
Imparting knowledge of true Islamic family values.
Developing understanding between different faiths.
Progressing community cohesion through interaction with host community.
Promoting peaceful and harmonious living.
Creating interfaith friendship with sense of tolerance for everyone who believes in any faith.
We wish to save our youth from:
Anti-social behaviour.
Community crimes.
Drug Addiction.
Hanging around in the streets.
Racial discrimination.
Any such action which leads them to a frustrated life.
We wish to provide a Refuge Home for the sisters against:
Domestic violence.
Discrimination under male domination.
Physical and Mental abuse.
Force Marriages.
With particular emphasis to children, we want to protect them from:
Domestic violence.
Child abuse.
Gang culture.
Unhealthy living.
MISCONCEPTION OF WORSHIP
In the Islamic terminology, if we practice and perform all the above duties under ‘Shariah’ (Islamic Way of Life), this action or work is called ‘Ibadah’ an Arabic word which means ‘worship’.
It is a misconception held by general public that only (1) praying (2) fasting (3) performing hajj pilgrimage or (4) giving charity etc are the acts of ‘worship’ which is wrong. In real meaning all of our day and night duties according to the true teaching of Quraan and Sunnah (way of life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)), is called ‘worship’, as it would be under command and teaching of the God Almighty.
So let us make it clear that educating the society, providing peaceful and harmonious living, creating tolerance among each faith, safety, security and protection of the land where we live, is not only necessary but it is our duty and can therefore be counted under the acts of ‘worship’.
